Entry Acceptance Rules

Each entry will consist two (2) 10 to 12 ounce capped bottles measuring no higher than 9.5 inches and no wider than 2.5 inches (no exceptions) that are void of all identifying information, including labels. Printed caps are allowed, but must be blacked out completely.  One bottle will be used for table category judging and the second bottle will be used for Best of Show judging should it take first place in its table category.

Anything other than 10 to 12 ounce capped bottles measuring no higher than 9.5 inches and no wider than 2.5 inches will not qualify for the competition.  Should a bottle be submitted outside of this size range it may be judged (pending payment) for feedback but it will not be eligible for placing or awards.  If entry fees have been submitted they will not be returned.  We're sorry but bottles outside of this range present logistical challenges and put other properly submitted entries at risk.

Bottles will not be returned to entrants for any reason.

Those entering the Milwaukee Brewing Company, Moonlight Meadery, or White Winter Winery ramp ups or qualifiers are encouraged to submit a third 10 to 12 ounce bottle measuring no higher than 9.5 inches and no wider than 2.5 inches. This will insure that a full bottle is available when ramp up judging takes place. If a third bottle is not submitted then either the the bottle used for the table category judging or the bottle reserved for Best of Show will be used. Under no circumstances will an entrants Best of Show round bottle be used for ramp up judging if the entrant has taken first place in their table category and they have not submitted a third bottle.

12 oz brown glass bottles are preferred; however, green and clear glass will be accepted. Swing top and corked bottles will be accepted.

Completed bottle labels must be submitted with all entries, and can be printed directly from the entry website. Bottle labels should be attached to bottles with a rubber band only; glue and/or tape are unacceptable.

Inadequent packaging materials or practices may result in entries being subject to disqualification.

Please fill out the entry information completely. Be meticulous about noting any special ingredients that must be specified per the 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines. Failure to note such ingredients may impact the judges'' scoring of your entry.

Bottles must be free of labels or other easily identified marks. Re-used Commercial bottles with embossed logos are allowed but discouraged.

Failure to submit entries properly will NOT exclude them from being judged or evaluated, however it may no longer be eligible for competition prizes.

Please see the Rules page for specific category entry rules.

Rules and regulations subject to change.

Ship entries to:

Northern Brewer - Milwaukee

Packing and Shipping

Carefully pack your entries in a sturdy box. Line the inside of your carton with a plastic trash bag. Partition and pack each bottle with adequate packaging material. Please do not over pack!

Write clearly: Fragile. This Side Up. on the package. Please only use bubble wrap as your packing material.

Enclose each of your bottle labels in a small zip-top bag before attaching to their respective bottles. This way it makes it possible for the organizer to identify specifically which entry has broken if there is damage during shipment.

Every reasonable effort will be made to contact entrants whose bottles have broken to make arrangements for sending replacement bottles.

If you live in the United States, please note that it is illegal to ship your entries via the United States Postal Service (USPS). Private shipping companies have the right to refuse your shipment if they are informed that the package contains glass and/or alcoholic beverages. Be aware that entries mailed internationally are often required by customs to have proper documentation. These entries might be opened and/or returned to the shipper by customs officials at their discretion. It is solely your responsibility to follow all applicable laws and regulations.
